Migrating feels scary, but in this order nothing goes down:
Step 1: Full backup
Export files + database (with All-in-One WP Migration or manually). Do not touch the old site yet.
Step 2: Bring the VPS up in parallel
Install the site on the VPS temporary IP and review it end to end: forms, payments, images.
Step 3: Lower your DNS TTL
24h in advance, set the TTL to 300 seconds so the change propagates fast.
Step 4: Switch the DNS
Point your domain to the VPS at night or during low-traffic hours. Within minutes it will be serving from the new server.
Step 5: SSL and final review
Enable the certificate, force HTTPS and check Search Console.
